Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Sorry Ron Artest World Peace, we don’t believe you when you say this elbow to James Harden’s head was an accident. Most people would stop after an accident and check on the person they hit, not sprint to the other end of the floor to defend themselves in the upcoming fight.

The Charlotte Bobcats have lost 20 games in a row and are on their way to the worst winning percentage in NBA history.  Their owner, Michael Jordan, was one of the most competitive players in history, how can he sleep at night knowing this is his doing?

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Whoever thinks the coaches have it easier would have to change their mind after Sunday’s NFL games.

Sean Payton, head coach of the New Orleans Saints, was ran over by one of his own players on the sideline and suffered some broken bones and a torn MCL, yet still pushed through the pain and remained on the field to coach through the first half.

In that same game Tampa Bay’s DB coach, Jimmy Lake, tore his patellar tendon celebrating an interception. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Some say Floyd Mayweather sucker punched Ortiz, some say it was a fair knockout.  I say, the more chances we get to see this picture, the better.  This was the highlight of the fight.

Aren’t we tired of Floyd fighting lesser competition and getting controversial victories?  When is he going to bite the bullet and fight Manny? Read the rest of this entry »

Give The Ladies A Chance

I’m giving women’s basketball a chance. Don’t laugh.

I watched a few women’s NCAA games this past season and was very much impressed. I enjoyed it more than the men’s games I watched. And when I stopped to think about it I figured if I told anyone what I was watching I probably would be made fun of. Generally, people don’t view women’s basketball, whether it is NCAA or WNBA, as legitimately as men’s. The thing is women’s basketball is all about passing and teamwork, which is lacking in the NBA and one of the reasons I don’t watch it anymore. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

This play will be heavily featured in any future Kevin Durant montages…sucks to be Brendan Haywood.

Dallas looks to be in control of the Western Conference Finals but does anyone outside of Texas have them winning it all?

Joakim Noah pulled a Kobe and yelled a gay slur at a fan but he immediately apologized after the game. Good move to a bad action. Looks like some sensitivity training is needed. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

So now that Ohio State’s football program is under investigation (again) for selling 50 cars to athletes and their families will they FINALLY get more than a slap on the wrist from the NCAA?

Meanwhile, the hate keeps coming for Jim Tressel (and I don’t blame them). Folks in Michigan are airing their distaste.

Gary Williams retired from the University of Maryland last week.  While we’re genuinely sorry to see him go, it was time as he was not interested in playing today’s game when it came to recruiting. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Everyone in Chicago better start praying fervently that Derrick Rose can come out of that walking boot and be effective.

At some point, LeBron James or Dwyane Wade is going to have to make a game-winning shot in the last 10 seconds.  It doesn’t really matter how great the rest of the game was if you lose.

Maybe they need to learn from Chris Paul, he sure shows a lot of heart and put that team on his back. But we already knew that.

No matter how you slice it, this was a heck of a shot by Lou Williams to extend the 76ers series with the Miami Heat.

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

I’m not exactly sure why this guy thought it was a good idea to attack NBA legend Dominique Wilkins (in Atlanta no less) but I’m certain he wishes he hadn’t.

This must have been the week for throwing punches in the NBA. Both John Wall of the Washington Wizards and Matt Barnes of the Los Angeles Lakers (nothing new for him) were suspended for getting violent.

Plea from the Wolfpack

*Note: Robin writes in first person plural because she works at NC State.

Poor NCSU, no one wants to coach us. In 2006, the last time the Wolfpack was searching for a head basketball coach, they were turned down by two candidates. You might know them: Rick Barnes and John Calipari. And yet here we are in 2011, not too far removed from the resignation of Sidney Lowe (the brave soul who took the gig in ’06 and NCSU alum) and rumor is that, again, we’ve been turned down twice…so far. This time around it’s Josh Pastner of Memphis and Dave Rose of BYU. What gives? Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Jimmer Fredette was 11 of 28 and BYU lost a close game to Florida.  I have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ve heard from Jimmer.  Some players find a way to make it in the NBA and some players are just…Adam Morrison.

Apparently, no one told Richmond and Marquette they were allowed to be competitive in the Sweet 16.

No one really believes Jared Sullinger when he says he’ll be back at Ohio State next year after losing to Kentucky.

After leading Butler to their second consecutive Final Four, will Brad Stevens build a dominant program there or will he seek the greener pastures of a larger conference?

How much money did Derrick Williams of Arizona make himself with his NCAA tournament play?  But I’m still not sure I agree with taking a 3 when a 2 would have tied the game.
