Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…
John Calipari is in the Final Four for the 6th time in 7 years. Is this Kentucky team going to bring him his first National Championship?
Baylor lost in the Elite 8 after breaking out, as we call here at TSG, the camouflage paintball uniform. The television is glad they’re out because it struggled to maintain the proper color when they were on the screen.
The Baylor women are still in the national title hunt and if 6 foot 8 inch Britney Griner continues to throw it down with two hands, they will be a tough team to beat.
Kevin Love is still the best NBA player no one talks about. He followed a 51 point, 14 rebound game with a 30 point, 21 rebound game. Maybe if he was flashier he could get in one of those silly Blake Griffin commercials.
We learned this weekend that San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has quite the sense of humor. He listed Tim Duncan in the official box score as “Did Not Play – Old”
Kendrick Perkins embarrasses Dwayne Wade by accident (we think) in Sunday’s night Thunder vs. Heat game. We’re thinking that’s appropriate payback for Perkins getting dunked on last year by Wade (and perhaps Kobe chuckled).
The Miami Heat has plenty of haters but everyone has to agree that their show of solidarity and support for Trayvon Martin was touching.
Our long national nightmare is over, Tiger Woods won his first golf tournament since slamming his SUV into a tree and letting all of his mistresses out the bag.
It’s been almost a week but we still don’t understand Tim Tebow going to the Jets.
The New Orleans Saints have been a great team with a great story. Now they’ve been labeled bounty hunters. With the additionally complicated contract negotiations with QB Drew Brees still ongoing, is this the end of one of the more recent perennial powerhouses?
With news breaking that a psychologist labeled Jerry Sandusky as a “likely pedophile” back in 1998 in a campus police report Penn State is sure to be in big legal trouble. Their image will forever be changed.
In positive college news: Congrats to the Shaw University Lady Bears for winning their first Division II basketball championship!
