Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Rest In Peace Tiaina Baul “Junior” Seau, Jr.  Junior’s family has agreed to allow his brain to be studied.  There may be so much we can learn about mental illness and concussions from his passing. Oh, and ESPN, you can stop showing the clip of his grieving mother any time now.

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

John Calipari is in the Final Four for the 6th time in 7 years.  Is this Kentucky team going to bring him his first National Championship?

Baylor lost in the Elite 8 after breaking out, as we call here at TSG, the camouflage paintball uniform.  The television is glad they’re out because it struggled to maintain the proper color when they were on the screen.

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

The theatrics to get a foul called is getting old. *cough* D Wade *cough*

The media wants so badly to discredit LeBron that they considered his performance in Game 3 of the Finals poor.  Not sure how having 9 assists and contributing defensively is a poor performance.  Poor performance = Dwyane Wade’s disappearing acts throughout the playoffs. Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

This play will be heavily featured in any future Kevin Durant montages…sucks to be Brendan Haywood.

Dallas looks to be in control of the Western Conference Finals but does anyone outside of Texas have them winning it all?

Joakim Noah pulled a Kobe and yelled a gay slur at a fan but he immediately apologized after the game. Good move to a bad action. Looks like some sensitivity training is needed. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

We’d like to begin by wishing Cam Netwon a happy belated birthday. His cake is just as extra as he is.

Who do we have to talk to to get rid of the talking basketball and “fast” rapper commercials during NBA games?

You have to give it up for the Memphis Grizzlies for getting as far as they did in the NBA playoffs.  Then you have to take some away for how the played in Game 7.

Let’s hope Russell Westbrook doesn’t see what kind of company he’s keeping with that triple-double in Game 7.  The last thing the Thunder needs is for him to get too full of himself…again. Read the rest of this entry »

Out With the Old

In 1999, Michael Jordan retired (we are going to just pretend that whole debacle of a comeback with the Washington Wizards never happened, ok) and a big deal was made about who among the current crop of NBA players would replace him.  Many acted as if the NBA would shrivel up and die without his presence.  Considering Jordan was the preeminent player of his time (and to some the best NBA player ever) his absence left large shoes to fill.  Many thought the heir apparent was Kobe Bryant who was three years into his career and seemed to pattern his entire game after Jordan.  Kobe never quite lived up to those lofty expectations but built his own great career and 12 years later, the NBA is undergoing yet another changing of the guard. Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Everyone in Chicago better start praying fervently that Derrick Rose can come out of that walking boot and be effective.

At some point, LeBron James or Dwyane Wade is going to have to make a game-winning shot in the last 10 seconds.  It doesn’t really matter how great the rest of the game was if you lose.

Maybe they need to learn from Chris Paul, he sure shows a lot of heart and put that team on his back. But we already knew that.

No matter how you slice it, this was a heck of a shot by Lou Williams to extend the 76ers series with the Miami Heat.
