Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Russell Wilson has elevated Wisconsin to a new level. If he’s not in the Heisman conversation, he should

Is Alabama really as good as they were against Florida on Saturday?

In case you haven’t noticed, Boise State is 4-0 again. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Some say Floyd Mayweather sucker punched Ortiz, some say it was a fair knockout.  I say, the more chances we get to see this picture, the better.  This was the highlight of the fight.

Aren’t we tired of Floyd fighting lesser competition and getting controversial victories?  When is he going to bite the bullet and fight Manny? Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

The NFL has mandated that all stadiums display fantasy stats on the scoreboard but is that going to make more fans go to the games when the at-home/bar experience is far more entertaining?

The Saints and Packers gave us a great start to the 2011 football season.  They also showed us why defense and special teams matter.

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

We’d like to begin by wishing Cam Netwon a happy belated birthday. His cake is just as extra as he is.

Who do we have to talk to to get rid of the talking basketball and “fast” rapper commercials during NBA games?

You have to give it up for the Memphis Grizzlies for getting as far as they did in the NBA playoffs.  Then you have to take some away for how the played in Game 7.

Let’s hope Russell Westbrook doesn’t see what kind of company he’s keeping with that triple-double in Game 7.  The last thing the Thunder needs is for him to get too full of himself…again. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

The ratings for the NFL Draft dropped from last year.  David Stern needs to take note, if the NFL Draft loses fan interest with labor strife, the NBA would fall completely off the map.

After being drafted overall #1 by the Carolina Panthers, Cam Newton proved his country roots by saying, “it’s not going to be instant like instant grits. It’s going to be like collard greens” with regards to his impact on the team.  Oh Cam.  Something tells me the media is going to LOVE covering him.

I think the display of emotion by Von Miller and Mark Ingram at the NFL Draft was beautiful. Wouldn’t you be feeling some kind of way if you were going to be a millionaire or heard an emotional message from your father in jail? Have a heart folks.

Robin’s Reaction to the NFL Draft

Below are my immediate thoughts on the NFL Draft as it occurred. I wasn’t expecting to watch it but I’m not that into the NBA and nothing else was on (The First 48 was a repeat).

1. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

I’m just not feeling Cam Newton anymore and I know I’m not alone. I have a problem with this smug bamma being able to say he’s a Heisman trophy winner, part of a BCS National Championship team, and now #1 draft pick. I am not impressed. Let’s hope he proves me wrong.

2. Von Miller, Denver Broncos

I don’t have a problem with this one. John Elway seemed very impressed with him. I thought it was touching that he showed such emotion. I’m a softie. Those glasses he had on were serious. Additionally, he is the rookie that is a plantiff on the players’ suit against the NFL.

3. Marcell Dareus, Buffalo Bills

I like Marcell, he seems like a great guy and he definitely works hard on the field (he did play for Saban after all). I’m just upset he went to Buffalo. Good luck there man. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Did you see all those empty seats at American Airlines Arena for the Knicks vs. Heat game? Disgrace!

The hometown Heat lost a nice lead and the game to the visiting Knicks showing once again the big three needs some big help.

Did you catch Grant Hill putting up 34 points against the Pacers, playing like he was a youngin’? Oh. Yeah, me neither.

Now that the NBA trade deadline has passed will anyone care about the league again until the playoffs?

Cam Newton has gotten mixed reviews on his performance at the NFL combine, the question is whether he is as good as he thinks he is. Read the rest of this entry »
