Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Rest In Peace Tiaina Baul “Junior” Seau, Jr.  Junior’s family has agreed to allow his brain to be studied.  There may be so much we can learn about mental illness and concussions from his passing. Oh, and ESPN, you can stop showing the clip of his grieving mother any time now.

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Sorry Ron Artest World Peace, we don’t believe you when you say this elbow to James Harden’s head was an accident. Most people would stop after an accident and check on the person they hit, not sprint to the other end of the floor to defend themselves in the upcoming fight.

The Charlotte Bobcats have lost 20 games in a row and are on their way to the worst winning percentage in NBA history.  Their owner, Michael Jordan, was one of the most competitive players in history, how can he sleep at night knowing this is his doing?

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Isn’t it interesting that as soon as it was clear Tiger was out of the running at the Masters the announcers began to elevate Phil while downing Tiger?

Congrats to Bubba Watson for winning the green jacket on the 2nd playoff hole.  We bet you never associated the name Bubba with golf.  Of course the redneck jokes have already started about what he’ll select for the Masters champion dinner.

Bobby Petrino was in a motorcycle accident while giving a ride to his 25 year old mistress, who’d just been hired in the Arkansas athletic department the week prior.  We’re sure Atlanta Falcons fans are calling this entire incident karma.

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

David Stern and the NBA were smart to figure out a way to get Jeremy Lin involved in the All-Star weekend.  The Rookie/Sophomore game was the most watched since 2004.  A few guys named Wade, Bosh, James, and Anthony participated in that one.

It really is a shame that Slam Dunk Contest got top billing on All-Star Saturday Night. Do you even remember who won and why?

In case you forgot, Jeremy Evans (Utah Jazz) won by jumping over Kevin Hart in the final round.  Yes, that Kevin Hart.  The one we can all jump over.

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Let the college football coaching carousel begin. Question is: Who will be the brave soul to take over Penn State? Quite a legacy to follow and an image to clean up.

And how does Charlies Weis keep getting college coaching jobs when he’s shown he doesn’t really have a talent for college coaching?

Congratulations go to Robert Griffin III for winning the Heisman (and for introducing us to Superman socks WITH a cape).

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Tony LaRussa announced his retirement after leading the improbable St. Louis Cardinals to a World Series victory.  That’s what you call going out on top.

Eric LeGrand, who was paralzed from the neck down in a game last season, inspired his former Rutgers’ teammates, among many others, by leading the team onto the field this weekend.

Congrats again to old man Joe Pa for being the winningest coach in Division I football with 409 wins. What’s the over/under on how high that number will get? Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

LSU means business, which means another year with an SEC team on top of the BCS.

Further evidence that the BCS is rigged: LSU and Alabama ranked #1 and 2 respectively will meet (after a bye this week) on Nov. 5 to duke it out. That equals more money and ratings, gotta love it.

Was the Michigan State hail mary a good play or bad defense?  You decide.
