Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…
Whoever thinks the coaches have it easier would have to change their mind after Sunday’s NFL games.
Sean Payton, head coach of the New Orleans Saints, was ran over by one of his own players on the sideline and suffered some broken bones and a torn MCL, yet still pushed through the pain and remained on the field to coach through the first half.
In that same game Tampa Bay’s DB coach, Jimmy Lake, tore his patellar tendon celebrating an interception.
Emotions and foolery erupted during a normally civil after game handshake between San Francisco’s Jim Harbaugh and Detroit’s Jim Schwartz. Will the NFL be doling out fines to head coaches? (Skip to 0:36)
Have we seen the last of Donovan McNabb as a starting quarterback? It really is a shame that these last two seasons have cast such a shadow over what was a darn good career.
Why isn’t anyone discussing the Cincinnati Bengals being 4-2 with a rookie Andy Dalton and without whiny Carson Palmer? Is it possible the blame could go on Carson where it belongs?
Oh no! Gruden has signed on for another 5 years with ESPN! How much longer do we have to hear about how great EVERYONE is?
And while we’re on the topic of the NFL, can we PLEASE stop discussing the possibilities of LeBron playing football?! Let’s not give him anymore attention (not to mention it makes no sense).
The game of musical chairs for conferences continues as the Big East moves closer to inviting Boise State, Air Force, Navy, and Central Florida, meanwhile Mountain West and Conference USA unanimously agreed to merge their football programs. It’s getting hard to keep track of the comings and goings.
A lot of undefeated programs lost this Saturday. But you know who didn’t…BOISE STATE (just sayin’).
Oregon was featured on College GameDay this weekend. They showed students in the dark at 9AM EST, I hope someone checked ID before they served them. There is only one way college students are up and rowdy at that hour and amazing that they were still there at game time (11PM EST).
Perhaps Maryland needs to focus less on it’s uniforms and more on it’s defense and special teams since they led Clemson by a score of 35-17 and managed to lose 56-45.
Have they gone too far with alternate uniforms? Now you don’t even recognize your team. Example – Michigan State with olive and bronze in place of green and white.
With the NBA season looking like a no go and NCAA basketball kicking off this weekend with Midnight Madness those who left college early last year to be drafted might be rethinking that decision now.
Texas!! St Louis!! It’s the World Series on FOX!!! (I’m sure they’d rather air Glee and X-Factor than this matchup).
The best part about the World Series is they will be forced to show Texas manager Ron Washington multiple times per game.
Are NASCAR officials secretly rejoicing that Jimmie Johnson did not finish this weekend’s race, which knocked his point standing down from third to eighth.
RIP to Indy car driver Dan Wheldon who was killed in a horrific 15 car crash yesterday.
