Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

Oh Stevie, we know you like to celebrate with the best of them but do ya think it came back to bite you in the final minutes with those dropped passes?

Was the Houston Texans stadium built on an ancient burial ground?  How else can you explain them losing their first and second string quarterbacks in the year it looked like they’d run away with the division?

Ndamukong Suh deserves his two game suspension.  Not as much for this act as for the horrible attempt at an explanation and that wack apology.

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

The battle of the titans between LSU and Alabama was all about defense and the mistakes on special teams.

We hope everyone watching understands why there should not be a rematch of that horrid game for the National Title.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma State and Kansas State were exploding on offense. How many folks changed the channel to watch that game? How many knew it was going on at the same time?

This week’s blooper comes from the Georgia-New Mexico State game. Those hedges play some mean defense. Kudos to Aron White for avoiding those precious xylophones though, oh and getting the TD.

Is Alabama really as good as they were against Florida on Saturday?

Through the Storm, Bama Stands Tall

If you didn’t know, I lived in Alabama for a couple of years and worked at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa from 2008 to 2010. Even though I have my issues with the university I was truly shaken by the tornado that demolished major sections of Tuscaloosa on April 27 and continued to move through the state, destroying parts of Birmingham and beyond. When I moved from Alabama last year I left many students I considered to be “my kids” and some friends and former coworkers. Needless to say, I was devastated and quickly got on my phone and texted everyone I knew to make sure they were okay. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s Be Honest…

Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…

So Jimmer Fredette gets to take his classes online because he’s NOW a distraction at BYU.  How is he a distraction now that the season is over?  That makes no sense.  Get that ethics panel together and get back to us with a better excuse.

Kobe got fined 100K for calling a referee a derogatory word.  The fine is definitely warranted but don’t you kinda think if it were a lesser player and the playoffs weren’t starting there would be a suspension involved?

Nobody cares who wins the Atlanta/Orlando playoff series.  As a matter of fact, if there was a way for both teams to lose a lot of people would be happy.

Derrick Rose is good.  Real good.

How Far Is Too Far?

The University of Alabama and Auburn University have one of the most historic rivalries in all of sports dating back to 1893 when they faced each other in football for the first time.   The rivalry is so fierce it  was rated by Sports Illustrated as the 2nd biggest rivalry in the world of sports (Yankees and Red Sox being number 1).  The Iron Bowl, the annual football match up between the two schools, often decides who will represent the SEC Western Division in the SEC Championship game and the last two years the winner has won the BCS National Championship.
