Happy New Year!!!
Our unfiltered thoughts on the past week in sports…
Tebow reigns! This time when it matters most. But let’s not forget Demaryius Thomas with that mean stiff arm.
The Saints scored all over the Lions. There was no mention of Suh and the defense throughout the game. That could be a good thing as he needs to work on his rep as a dirty player.
The Lions definitely weren’t ready for prime time on Saturday night but with that young nucleus they could be dangerous for the next decade.
The Atlanta Falcons showed that once again they aren’t quite playoff material since their only points came from a penalty on Eli Manning in the end zone.
The NFL coaching carousel continues with all three Florida teams on the hunt, as well as the St. Louis Rams. The top candidates are Jeff Fisher and John Gruden (please hire Gruden, please!).
Does anyone think it’s odd that Fisher is a hot coaching candidate when his teams weren’t really all that stellar? Is it more odd that Raheem Morris is going from head coach to being considered as a defensive backs coach for the Redskins?
Are you ready for tonight’s BCS National Championship?! After last week’s exciting Bowl Games are you hopeful that tonight’s game will be interesting, well as interesting as a 6-5 game could possibly be?
West Virginia beat down and embarrassed Clemson in the Orange Bowl. WVU is looking pretty stellar and the ACC looks like some scrubs. Meanwhile, Boise State played on December 22.
Penn State announced the hiring of their new head coach, Bill O’ Brien (formerly with the Patriots), and based on the reaction of alumni and former players you would think that they hired the devil himself. It’s a shame that they don’t understand why they have to move away from the Paterno coaching tree.
The Washington Wizards are the joke of the NBA with an 0-8 record. Andray Blatche, the team captain, showcases his talents with this goal tend on a free throw.
The Minnesota Timberwolves were considered the laughing stock of the NBA draft for many years but with Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love aren’t they just a few pieces away from being a contender?
This young NBA season has already seen it’s fair share of injuries. Hopefully we’ve learned once and for all that training camp does have a purpose.
Western Kentucky fired their coach after they lost a game when the other team had 6 players on the court. I’m guessing he didn’t protest enough?
There have been several dismissals handed down this season for college hoops players, including Ole Miss, Arizona State, and UCLA. What gives? Are officials getting more diligent or out to make examples?
Floyd Mayweather was due to begin serving his 3 month sentence for assault last week but had it pushed back so he could train and participate in a fight in May. Does anyone else see a problem with this?
